Who Survived at the End of Lost?

[ad_1]

The final season of Lost was split up into two realities. One was a continuation of the main timeline from the first five seasons. This timeline is the “real world” and it’s this world that this article is focused on. The other reality is the “flash sideways” which is revealed to be a kind of “purgatory” (I don’t know if that’s the best word for it, but it’s some sort of “post life” world) at the end of the finale episode.

The “flash sideways” world occurs in a place outside of time. It happens after all of the characters die, even if they die at different times (which they obviously do.)

But this article is about who survived at the end of the “real world” timeline as the show ends? Who either escaped the island for good or was still alive on the island at the end?

Escaped The Island On The Plane

The first group of people who clearly survived were those who were on the plane flown by Frank Lapidus. Sawyer, Kate, Claire, Miles, & Richard were on the plane as passengers.

Survived On The Island

Hurley was the “new Jacob” at the end of the series (after Jack’s death) with Ben as his “#2.” Bernard and Rose were also still alive (avoiding drama!)

Desmond was also alive on the island at the end of the series but it is implied that he leaves to join his wife (Penny) and his son (Charlie) because Ben tells Hurley he doesn’t have to do things the way Jacob did (people can leave the island.)

And I don’t want to forget Vincent the dog (who so poignantly visits Jack as he’s dying at the end.)

Other Survivors

Walt, Aaron, Penny, Jin & Sun’s baby, and Eloise Hawking are some other characters from the show who are still alive at the end.

Managing Millennials Vs Boomers or Gen X’Ers or Traditionals

These times they are a changing — sort of.

But what is not changing are the dynamics of human psychology.

There is a growing wave of opinion out there that Millennials are harder to manage than Boomers, Gen X’ers or Traditionals.

I’ve been managing people in one way or another for 42 years. About the only difference I see in people is that we are more informed. We are more digitally connected. I think we are less personally connected. It seems that we are multi-tasking more, while enjoying our lives less.

All of those things are simply details that have surfaced on the human landscape.

Why is the general consensus that Millennials, as a group of employees, is harder to motivate, align and retain? More than any generational difficulty, it’s because we have become aware that the emperor is naked. Technology has helped us speed things up. It has exposed more flaws in the system because we can analyse more data more accurately.

Think of it this way. Watch an Indy 500 that took place in 1960. Now watch one from 2010. The driver’s dashboard is like the cockpit of an airplane. There are instruments everywhere. There is a camera inside the car that records the drivers actions. Cameras follow the movement outside the car. The driver is in instant contact with the pit crew. None of that was available in 1960.

But the constant element over the years is the driver him or herself — a skilled, courageous, motivated human being dealing with all those variables in the drive to the winner’s circle. And the common element in the winners from 1960 and 2010 is the same — jubilation.

I think that what today’s managers are experiencing is that Millennials have the perspective and the insights gained by observing the relationship between managers and employees.

Millennials have grown up in a time in which the social contract — in society at large and in corporations — has been changed but many of the players have not been notified.

Many of the other players are resisting the change, which has resulted in increased conflict, misunderstandings, resentments and hostility in the workplace.

Older managers expect to be treated with respect (do what your father says!). But these days everyone, regardless of generation or gender, expects managers to earn the respect of their employees. Position alone is no guarantee of voluntary compliance.

Employees, young and old, will be more collaborative, engaged, and aligned when managers are more respectful of the new social contract. Employees today resent being treated as “human capital.”

So here’s the deal.

Use the same, human principled “platform” for creating engagement across generations, genders, and cultures — respect, responsibility, information, rewards, and a “we’re-in-this-together” attitude.

Yes, do tailor the model to the gender and cultural differences and build it into the hiring and selection process. And, yes, be considerate of individual values and differences.

Ultimately, everyone, regardless of generation, is an individual. Highly effective managers acknowledge and “go with” that concept.

We have to get to know our people so we can personalize the rewards and recognition to fit the person’s internal motivational dynamics.

Old school, stock approaches to people are likely to fail 80% of the time.

You ready, willing and able to do that?

Top Review of Brig Hart

[ad_1]

This whole system seems crazy to me.

“The MonaVie opportunity and the R3 Global Total Support System to achieving better health and wealth.” Sounds a little crazy don’t you think? I say it is. But again, don’t want to upset anyone, it’s just my opinion.

The MonaVie product is claiming to be number one as a supper food? Brig Hart said these words himself. Who, by the way is an excellent speaker. Humble though isn’t he? MonaVie is a wine like substance, in a wine like bottle that you are to sell to your friends and family.

You will be offering the business opportunity and product to others through the follow acronym: The ITS factor, (Invite, taste and share.) “Make a list of every one you know every where…” Sounds familiar doesn’t it? Let me tell you something, If you are anything like me your reputation with friends and family for testing crazy products and programs on them is pretty bad. The last thing I ever do at this point is try to push or sell stuff to them. They know where to find me if they see me working on something that interests them.

$39.00 to get involved. Then you have the “right” to be able to buy a case of the product again, bottles of some sort of wonder wine at a wholesale price. Then you get signed up on an “AS” (auto ship) so they can continually ship you cases of this stuff. Anything like AA? (Alcoholics anonymous) You buy the MonaVie wine-like product at $32.00 each and then unload it at like $45.00 a piece.

I don’t know, didn’t people catch on to this kind of thing with Am Way years and years ago? At least that was regular products you could use every day or that regular people bought like toilet paper and T.V.s and such.

This system brings back terrifying memories of a drinkable goopy green Aloe Vera gel that I sold with Nutrition for Life. My poor mom still has some of that stuff in a box in the basement along with some other pills and stuff. Sorry mom.

I just can not support Brig Hart or this MonaVie product and selling system. Imagine trying to get people to come over to your house, drink some mystery drink and then actually buy it! THE END.

What to Do When Your Fundraising Auction Guests Are Gen X Or Gen Y

Who is giving you the big bucks at your auction fundraiser? If your auction trends the way of many groups, your largest donors are likely 46 years old plus. They are at least Baby Boomers, but most may be older. Certainly many of the most successful auctions Red Apple Auctions conducts are filled with 45+ year old gala attendees.

So what the heck are you supposed to do if you’re holding an auction filled with young professionals? How will you hit a $40k goal if you’ve got a room filled with Gen X and Gen Y buyers? I’ve got a suggestion, thanks to some data published in The Chronicle of Philanthropy’s recent post on How Americans of Different Generations Give to Charity*. Here’s a snippet of what the research shows:

Gen X: born 1965-1980

Of those who give, 32% give less than $100

37% give between $100 and $500

Average amount to top charity: $272

Gen Y: born 1981 to 1991

Of the 54% who give, most of them — 58% — are giving less than $100

28% of them give between $100 and $500.

Average amount to top charity $161

If the average donated amount from Gen X and Gen Y is $161 to $272, you need to fill your event with low-valued items. Lots of ’em.

These folks will buy (the majority of them are giving to multiple charities already), but if you are hoping to sell a $4000 condo, maybe you should think again. (Unless the condo will sleep 10 comfortably and you’ve advertised in advance. If you’ve done that, it would allow your Gen Ys and Gen Xers to pool their cash and buy it together.)

You also might want to think twice before you package items in the silent auction.

Keep the price point within reason… don’t build enormous baskets worth $900 when Gen X and Gen Y are filling your silent auction room. Offer more items, but at lower price points.

And for your cash appeal/ Fund a Need, consider dropping the levels.

Offer lower levels of giving at the $50, $25, or even $10 point. Better to get just a little cash and be able to capture that donor’s address for your records. Continue to market to him or her with your passionate stories, and that $10 donor could develop into a much bigger donor ten years later.

So there you have it. Keep your Gen Xs and Gen Ys information in mind, and you’ll have a great auction, regardless of the age of your younger attendees.

Forex Trading Review – Top 4 Forex Trading Strategies Revealed

[ad_1]

Many trading investors especially beginners would like to learn the best trading strategy for them. There are four that are commonly used by experts. These are the swing, discretionary, scalping, and automated trading. First thing to consider before entering the Foreign Exchange Market is to identify which trading style suits you best. Several factors may affect your trading style like your time and capabilities. This article will give you and idea on how each of these trading strategies work:

Swing Trading:

It is almost similar with Day Trading where you could use many trading systems. Its chart time fame is longer than that of day trading. It includes three types of trades, the trend trading, counter trend trading and range trading.

Discretionary Trading:

It does both technical and fundamental analysis. This trading style use visuals like charts to see the pattern of the movement of the market condition. It analyzes the market on a regular basis therefore giving the trader a better understanding of the trading environment. It also applies quantitative analysis to forecast traders’ earnings.

Scalping:

It uses the fundamental analysis to predict the future exchange rates. Traders who use this style watch the economic condition as a whole. They base their analysis on news that would affect the economy like natural disasters, politics, price hikes etc. Before the market adjusts to the condition they make a quick buying decision then sell once the market has recovered.

Automated Trading:

This is the most commonly used by both new and old traders. Trading is possible with little or no human intervention through the use of automated software programs. These trading robots were designed by expert traders. Since Foreign Exchange trading entails a lot of time and effort they saw the need for system to do the work for them. They programmed these robots based on their trading strategies so they need not to be in front of their PCs all the time. If you are the type of person who doesn’t have enough time to monitor the market 24/7 this is a trading style that will best work for you. Having the right knowledgeable, discipline and a reliable tool should not only make your trading easier but will also increase your chances of getting profits in no time.

How to Obtain Police Identity Under The California Public Records Act

A simple scenario plays out each day in California. The need arises to obtain the name(s) of police who went to a call. For whatever reason, a citizen wants to know who went to the call, contacts dispatch, and simply makes the request what officers went to a specific call. The dispatcher declines the request, as does the police station supervisor. Thus, absent a subpoena, the option to obtain officer name may be obtained without filing a lawsuit through a public records act request.

The California Public Records Act (“Act”). The Act requires that local and state agencies make their public records available for inspection. (Govt. Code § 6253.) A “public record” is defined as “any writing containing information relating to the conduct of the public’s business prepared, owned, used, or retained by any state or local agency[.]” (Govt. Code § 6252, subd. (e).) The definition is broad and “‘ intended to cover every conceivable kind of record that is involved in the governmental process[.]’ ” (San Gabriel Tribune v. Superior Court (1983) 143 Cal.App.3d 762, 774, quoting § 6252, subd. (e).)

The public has a vital interest in understanding and evaluating a police department’s response to an alleged crime and the manner it handles the call. The public retains the right to know the name and rank of all officers who responded and the roles they played in order to evaluate the department’s response, verify that the department complied with its own policies and procedures, determine if the department’s response conformed to best practices, and suggest changes to policies and procedures in responding to future similar incidents. The public also has a significant interest in verifying that officers deployed to respond to a potential crime and suggesting how such training might be improved.

Names and ranks of police officers are not automatically exempt from public disclosure. Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training v. Superior Court (2007) 42 Cal.4th 278. “Law enforcement officers carry upon their shoulders the cloak of authority to enforce the laws of the state. In order to maintain trust in its police department, the public must be kept fully informed of the activities of its peace officers.” Id. at 297.

The Attorney General recently concluded “the name of a peace officer involved in a critical incident is not categorically exempt from disclosure” under the CPRA or Penal Code. Opinion No. 07-208, 91 Ops. Cal. Atty. Gen. 11. The Attorney General specifically noted “a request just for the names of officers involved in a particular incident may be provided without revealing any investigatory or disciplinary matter that may have arisen out of the incident.” Ibid. The “identities of officers involved in a particular incident that occurred in the course and scope of their duties as peace officers is clearly information related ‘to the conduct of the public’s business'” and is subject to disclosure if “it is recorded in any manner and can be redacted to protect any confidential material.” Ibid.

The officers’ identities may be withheld only if the government can carry its heavy burden to prove “the public interest served by not disclosing the record clearly outweighs the public interest served by disclosure of the record.” Ibid. (quoting Govt. Code, § 6255(a).) For example, that narrow exception might apply to an undercover officer or an incident involving a street gang and the prospect of retribution by the gang. Ibid. However, the exception cannot apply indiscriminately to any incident in which an officer is involved.

The request is not a request for personnel records. The definition of “personnel records” in Penal Code Section 832.7 is provided in Section 832.8, and Section 832.8 does not specifically refer to records of officer training. Records that “do not reflect any of the items enumerated” in section 832.8 are not exempt from disclosure under Section 832.7. International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers, Local 21, AFL-CIO v. Superior Court (2007) 42 Cal.4th 319, 346.

If police determine that any or all or the information qualifies for an exemption from disclosure, then ask whether, as is normally the case under the Act, the exemption is discretionary, and if so whether it is necessary in this case to exercise the departments’ discretion to withhold the information.

Furthermore, if the police department determines that some but not all of the information is exempt from disclosure and that police intend to withhold it, request that police redact it for the time being and make the rest available as requested. In any event, ask police to please provide a signed notification citing the legal authorities on which you rely if you determine that any or all of the information is exempt and will not be disclosed. Typically, public record requests are handled by the City Attorney for municipal police or County Counsel for the Sheriff.

Additionally, an agency has 10 days to decide if copies will be provided. In “unusual” cases (request is “voluminous,” seeks records held off-site, OR requires consultation with other agencies), the agency may upon written notice to the requestors give itself an additional 14 days to respond. (Govt. Code §6253(c)) These time periods may not be used solely to delay access to the records. (Govt. Code § 6253(d)) As such, the police cannot delay its reply, since these records should be readily available since this is the manner a member of the public is to be aware how to stay in compliance with the law. If any of the requested items do not exist ask the police to please state such when you reply.

Of course, it is best to consult with counsel concerning the request, and if done on your own, always be courteous and respectful of police. Since strict time lines apply for police, or any public agency to respond to a CPRA request, it is advisable to send the request by certified mail, FedEx, UPS, etc. and any communication is made in writing.

Top Online Casino Payout Rates

Most all top online casinos voluntarily subject themselves to regular audits (usually monthly) by a qualified and reputable third party firm, such as Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC). These audits generally focus on two aspects of the online casino’s operations: their random number generator and their payout rates. The latter — payout rates — is the subject of this article.

Apple iPod MC037 – The 8 GB Blue Wonder of the 5th Gen Nano

Every year, audiophiles seem to grow antsy once autumn rolls in. Many of these are because Apple is set to release its new products. And for 2009, released in September 9, Steve Jobs unleashed to the world the 5th generation iPod Nano which comes even more packed with goodies, and in this new line-up comes the Apple iPod MC037, an 8 GB Nano unit that comes with a Blue polished anodized aluminium finish. Considering Apple’s penchant for setting the bar higher with each of their products they release, the 5th Gen Apple iPod MC037 now comes with a video camera.

The new Apple iPod MC037 sports the same shape that has adorned its previous model and has totally abandoned, as of now, its 3rd gen design and has stuck to what many would think is the best shape for the Nano. The latest Nano encasement measures 3.5 inches in height, 1.6 inches wide, and is a quarter of an inch thick on the middle.

Another upgrade from the previous model found in the Apple iPod MC037 is a slightly bigger screen that measures 2.2 inches, the previous model “only” had 2 inches. This increase in screen size have allowed the Apple iPod MC037 to display 12 lines now of menu text, 2 more than the previous, and the other lists in the screen are bolder making them more readable.

That same encasement also was given a new colour finish that is glossy and has a polished aluminium feel; think about the shiny brittle Christmas ball ornaments. The best way, which is also the easiest, to see if your iPod Nano is indeed the Apple iPod MC037, is to flip it around. New to this model is a video camera located at the lower back of the casing and is smoothly flushed to the flow of the finish, unlike with other camera lens that protrudes from the frame and is more susceptible to scratches.

For the Apple iPod MC037, you may notice that the position of the dock and headphone ports has been reversed. This may cause some compatibility problems with aftermarket accessories and may result to a difficult fit. Fortunately, a universal adapter is available, which is sold separately.

Being the main added ingredient for the Apple iPod MC037 and the rest of the 5th generation iPod Nano, the video camera is what most people are curious about. First off, if you’re expecting a high quality camera, then you will surely be disappointed. It doesn’t provide high definition quality videos and it can’t even take photos. But that doesn’t mean that there’s no good thing about it. Primarily, the easiness of use is something to cheer about. With just two clicks of the wheel, you’re already recording. The video camera has a resolution of 640×480 pixels that records in an MP4 and H.264 format. While you may probably not use this for filming your family vacation, it can become very handy at the apt situations. Amazingly, the microphone records remarkably well. It can pick up hushed conversation about eight to ten feet away without any problems and provides a very audible output.

Next, and one of the most in-demand, because it’s the last portable multimedia player to sport one, is the FM player. It provides excellent reception although you have to use the ear buds and not the built in speaker as the Apple iPod MC037 uses it as an antenna.

All in all, the Apple iPod MC037 is still the exceptional MP3 player that the iPod is known for. And with more features being added to an already exceptional piece of gadgetry, you can expect it to just get better.

SocialGo – Social Network Maker Review

[ad_1]

SocialGo is the answer for many today who wish to create their own professional-grade social network designed for their particular interest, business, or group. A social network is of course, a group of people united by their common cause, business, or interest. Thus it is a computer platform allowing users to customize their network according to the amount of privacy desired, assorted features and permissions. Permissions outline who may view personal information, or information regarded as secret or semi-secret to a company for example.

Who uses it? Various groups, entrepreneurs, and businesses utilize it. Their goal is often to being a community around their brand for instance, or to build customer meaningful relationships, or even to create a communication channel for the members of the network.

What’s special about it? Basically the fact that thousands of members have found that they can construct direct revenue streams from the network they create.

What can be in it? You can utilize this network for any text you wish to publish, as well as any photos or videos you wish to include.

What’s the difference from just a website? With this social network, people can of course read what you wish to write, but in addition they can respond to it. This allows people to become a part of the network, in that they can actually share and contribute to it.

How can one monetize this network? There are a number of ways to make money with it. For example if you provide a service, you may charge for the service. SocialGo supports PayPal for example for billing purposes. Another means of monetizing it is to host advertisements and charge the advertisers. This works very well if you have a very active network of course.

What if I need help? There are a number of ways to get help, such as joining the Owner’s Network, speak to sales agents, get a support ticket, etc. There are also a huge number of tutorials that are easy to read and follow.

What does it cost? The top of the line costs $149.99 per month, and it gives you anything that a business would need to create the best most attractive network for your brand, existing product or website. Or you can get a network starter account for only $4.99 per month. Then instead if you wish, you can get a free account if you are for instance a group of concerned mothers wishing to chat about the school your kids go to.

What else is available? There are a number of other services available, for instance sending out billing and collecting, removing all traces of the network on your site (known as white labeling), or separate storage and bandwidth blocks if you have an overly active large network.
